Unified Snapshot Format (USF) System for Cross-Cloud Application Migration

Cloud platforms make deploying applications easier, but preserving and moving complete application state across environments remains difficult. As systems grow more distributed and span multiple infrastructure layers, the absence of a common way to describe application state limits portability, recovery, and reproducibility—especially in multi-cloud and disaster-recovery scenarios.
This published patent application frames the issue as a systems-level fragmentation problem. Existing tools capture isolated aspects of a system, such as configuration, runtime environments, or data, without offering a unified way to reason about application state independent of a specific platform or deployment model.
